Policy and premium / Coverage verification
The adjuster starts with a verified position
Coverage is resolved and checked while the notice is being taken, so the file opens with an answer rather than a promise to look into it.
Verification at intake is the difference between a first contact that sets expectations correctly and one that has to be walked back a week later.
Verify a real lossIs this loss covered, and who decided?
The platform resolves the policy version in force at the loss date and checks the reported facts against its coverages, limits and deductibles. It produces a result and records it. A person with the authority to determine coverage makes the determination — and their name is on it.
Before the file is assigned
What happens during intake
- 01
The policy is resolved
Matched on the loss date, not today, so a lapsed or since-amended policy resolves to the terms that were actually in force.
- 02
Facts are checked against terms
Reported peril, location and parties are compared with the coverages on that version, including limits and deductibles.
- 03
The result is recorded
On the claim, with what was checked. A verification that lives in somebody’s memory is not evidence.
- 04
A person determines coverage
The platform verifies; the determination is made by somebody authorized to make it. No model and no rule decides a coverage position.
Why timing matters
The cost of verifying late
Every one of these is a routine failure in operations that verify after assignment rather than during intake.
| Failure | What verification at intake prevents |
|---|---|
| Wrong expectations set on first contact | The adjuster knows the position before they speak to anybody |
| Reserves set against uncovered exposure | The financial picture starts from a verified basis |
| A claim assigned to the wrong desk | Coverage posture is known before auto-assignment runs |
| Deadlines started on a claim that has none | Statutory clocks compute from a resolved policy and jurisdiction |
| A denial that cannot be evidenced | The verification result and its inputs are on the file |
Verification is not determination
This distinction is deliberate and we will not blur it, because blurring it is how automated systems end up making decisions they cannot defend.
The platform does not decide
It resolves, checks and records. A coverage determination is a human act by somebody with authority, and the audit trail names them.
Facts can be wrong at intake
Verification is only as good as what was reported. Corrections re-verify, and the change is recorded rather than replacing history.
Complex claims stay complex
Multi-policy, multi-peril and disputed-liability files need judgment. Verification gives that judgment a clean starting point, not a substitute.
