Intelligence / Reporting

The report library, and the reports that send themselves

A library of reports with scheduled delivery, each running under the requester’s own permissions rather than a service account with more access than they have.

Scheduled reporting is where access control usually quietly breaks: a report set up by a manager keeps sending after they change roles.

Schedule a real report

What happens to a scheduled report when someone changes role?

It runs with the permissions of the person it belongs to, evaluated at run time. Somebody who loses an entitlement stops receiving the data that entitlement covered — the schedule does not carry a snapshot of the access they used to have.

Library and schedule

How a report is produced and delivered

  1. 01

    A library, not ad-hoc exports

Standard reports exist as defined artefacts, so two people asking the same question get the same answer rather than two spreadsheets.

  2. 02

    Scheduled delivery

Reports run and deliver on a schedule, monitored like any other scheduled job — a delivery that stops happening is a signal, not silence.

  3. 03

    Permissions at run time

Evaluated when the report runs, not when it was created. Role changes take effect on the next run.

  4. 04

    ISO and statutory reporting

Regulatory outputs where the line requires them, produced from the same record rather than assembled separately.

Operational reporting

What most operations actually run weekly

These are the reports that get scheduled in practice, and each is a query against the same record the adjusters are working.

ReportQuestion it answers
Open inventory by adjusterWho is carrying what, right now
Cycle time by monthIs closing getting faster or slower
Reserve developmentWhere the book is moving against expectation
SLA attainmentAre client commitments being met
Compliance exposureWhich statutory clocks are close
ISO reportingStatutory submission where the line requires it

Reporting is downstream

A report describes what the operation did. It cannot describe what the operation failed to record.

Custom reports are work

The library covers standard questions. A genuinely bespoke report is a build, and we would rather quote it than imply a drag-and-drop designer.

Delivery depends on your mail

Scheduled delivery reaches your infrastructure. Filtering and retention on the receiving side are yours.

Not a substitute for panels

A weekly PDF is a worse management tool than a panel you can drill. Use both for what each is good at.

Bring the report somebody rebuilds monthly

The one assembled by hand every month. We will look at whether it belongs in the library, on a schedule, or as a panel instead.
