The table ships empty on purpose. Shipping a default notice period would mean shipping a guess about somebody’s statute, and getting that wrong is a regulatory event.

Because there is no sensible default for a statutory notice period. It varies by state and by line, and a wrong value produces a cancellation that is legally defective — worse than no cancellation at all. Refusing to run is the safe failure.

The account sits in a defined state for a defined period. A rung is never skipped and never advanced by a click.

Reached through the single policy transition door, with the reason recorded and the audit row written in the same transaction.

History is append-only
Delinquency history is never rewritten. A dispute about what notice was issued when is answered from the record.

Who can influence a run, and how little
A screen that can advance accounts toward cancellation has an unacceptable blast radius, so the controls are deliberately narrow.

The configuration burden is real
This design moves work to onboarding. We think that is the right trade, and we will not pretend it is free.
Every state needs entering
Timers per state and per line before delinquency operates in that jurisdiction. It is a project, and it is the point.
We do not advise on statute
The platform enforces the durations you enter. Determining what your obligation is remains your counsel’s work.
