Waypoint Suites / Underwriting Portal
Clean risks bind themselves. The rest reach a person.
Submission to bound: quote preparation, rating against your own filed rate book, binding, and a referral queue that escalates rather than stalls.
Authority is a limit the platform holds and checks on execution — not a line in a handling manual that somebody is expected to remember at 5pm on a Friday.
Walk a submissionProblem 1 — Throughput
Underwriter attention on the risks that need it
Rating
Your rate book, explained
Tables, factors and algorithms are your configuration. Every run records inputs, factors applied and result, so a premium can be explained months later.
Binding
Straight through where allowed
A submission satisfying your ruleset is rated and bound without human review. No queue, no waiting on capacity.
Referral
Escalation, not limbo
A risk beyond authority routes to a named queue carrying the exposure figure that made it an escalation.
Problem 2 — Authority
A limit that cannot be exceeded by accident
Per role
Held by the platform
Each role carries its own bind ceiling. Exceeding it is not a policy violation to discover — it is a refused action.
Dual control
Cancel-for-Cause needs two desks
The desk that detects a problem is not the desk that ends a contract. Billing initiates; underwriting executes.
Threshold
Exposure raises the bar
At or above your configured exposure ceiling, a second signature from an executive director is required — and if no ceiling is set, it is always required.
The referral that started in billing
Cancel-for-Cause crosses two desks on purpose
A Billing Supervisor initiates the referral: the account is locked out of automated sweeps and the financial evidence is packaged. They cannot cancel. An Underwriting Manager reviews portfolio impact, state rules, forms and exposure, then executes — and the cancellation passes the same single policy transition door as every other status change.
Initiate
Billing Supervisor. Locks sweeps, packages evidence, raises a priority referral.
Review
Underwriting Manager. Portfolio impact, state rules, forms, exposure.
Execute
Underwriting only. Transmits back to halt invoicing.
Dual signature
At or above the exposure threshold, an Executive UW Director co-signs.
Role catalog — Underwriting Portal
The System Underwriter is a machine identity behind straight-through processing. It has no interactive login and cannot be assigned to a person, so an automated bind is never mistaken for somebody’s decision.
Rating uses your own filed rate book — we ship no rates and no payment plans. A platform that shipped defaults here would be shipping a guess about your filings.
What it solves
Straight-through processing binds within your ruleset; only exceptions reach an underwriter.
The limit is a platform ceiling checked on execution, so there is nothing to find later.
A referral is a routed state with the exposure attached, returning to the same file rather than an email thread.
Two desks minimum, and dual signature at or above the exposure threshold — always required if no threshold is configured.
Every rating run recorded its inputs, the factors applied and the result.
