Claims / First notice of loss

Four doors in, one inventory out

First party, third party, workers’ compensation and agentic capture — plus a guided wizard, a virtual call center and bulk upload. However a loss arrives, it lands in one place.

The intake route shapes what must be captured. A third-party notice is not a first-party notice with different labels, and pretending otherwise corrupts the file from the first minute.

Does it matter which door a loss comes through?

For what gets captured, yes — each door collects what its situation requires. For what happens afterwards, no. Every route produces a claim in the same inventory, with a generated self-describing claim number, coverage verified and assignment already run.

Plus bulk and agentic

The four doors

  1. 01

    First party FNOL

The insured reports their own loss. Policy, insured, loss facts, coverage and contacts — with verification running as the notice is taken.

  2. 02

    Third party FNOL

A claimant who is not the insured reports against the insured’s policy. The first name captured is the claimant, not the insured — a distinction the form makes explicit because reversing it corrupts everything downstream.

  3. 03

    Workers’ compensation FNOL

Jurisdictional intake for indemnity and medical, with the statutory reporting the line demands computed from the loss and report dates.

  4. 04

    Agentic intake

Documents are read, facts extracted, claimants counted, and a draft presented for review. Nothing becomes a claim without a reviewer promoting it.

  5. 05

    Bulk upload and call center

Batch intake for carrier feeds, and a virtual call center for notices taken by people who are not on your staff.

What happens at creation

Every route, the same guarantees

These run regardless of which door was used, which is what makes the inventory trustworthy as a single work queue.

At creationBehavior
Claim numberGenerated, self-describing, never reused
CoverageResolved against the policy version in force at the loss date
AssignmentRuns immediately, filtered by state licensing
Statutory clocksComputed per jurisdiction from loss and report dates
PartiesDe-duplicated against the organization address book

Intake quality still matters

Good structure cannot rescue a notice taken carelessly, and we would rather say so than sell intake as a solved problem.

Wrong facts propagate

Coverage verification and deadline computation both read what was reported. Corrections re-run them, and the change is recorded rather than hidden.

Agentic intake needs review

Extraction is a draft with confidence per field. A reviewer confirms or corrects — that step is not optional and not skippable.

Bulk feeds need mapping

A carrier’s bulk format has to be mapped once. That is setup work, not a switch.

Bring a third-party notice

The kind that usually gets keyed in backwards. Watch the form insist on the distinction before anything is saved.
